The chart below gives the information of cinema attendance by age group between 1984 and 2000.

The graph depicts the proportion of people in four age groups who went to cinema in Great Britain from 1984 to 2000.

Overall, there was a clear increase in the percentages of cinema attendance among four age groups in the given period. While the 15-24 age group was the highest, the 35 and over one showed the opposite.

In 1984, about 18% people aged 15-24 went to the cinema, 17% higher than that of people aged 35 and over. 10% and 4% were the proportions of 7-14 and 25-35 age group respectively. Although the statistics rose and fell over the period of 16 years, the general trend was still upward.

In 2000, after having reached the peak in the previous year, attendance of 15-24 age group fell slightly to 59%, which was the highest among four groups. In contrast, despite having experienced a drastic rise from 1%, the percentage of group above 35 was still the lowest, ending with about 14%. Having followed quite similar patterns, the proportions of people aged 7-14 and 25-25 both ended at 32%.
