The chart below gives information on the percentage of British people giving money to charity by age range for the year 1990 and 2010.

The chart illustrates the proportion of British people ranging from young age of 18 to 65 years engaging in monetary charity work. It is evident from the data that the elderly in Britain contribute significantly more money to charity than the younger population.

While the age group of 36-50 years displayed largest percentage of people donating money in 1990, the more elder population also showed better representation with almost one third of the people in the age group above 51 indulging in charity. This is in stark contrast to the younger population. The percentage of youth in Britain giving money to charity is much lower than the national average.

This trend has declined further in 2010. While the elderly population continues to account for a greater percentage in people donating money, the numbers for the younger age group of 18 years has reduced by more than a half of their percentage in 1990. Compared to both, the age group of 51-65 years has emerged as the largest contributor to charity in Britain, overtaking the age group of 36-50 years by five percent in 2010.

The conclusion that can be drawn from the data indicates that an interest towards charity is more observed in the elder population of Britain, specifically the age group of 36 years and above. However, the percentage of younger population donating money to charity is lesser and has reduced from 1990 to 2010.
