The chart illustrates, number of hours spend on internet by percentage of adolescent children residing in the UK playing games and chatting during a school day.
Overall, it is clear from the graph that, a considerably large % of teenage boys spent time playing video games, whereas young girls were involved doing internet chatting on per day basis. Additionally, more than 4 hours per day is utilized by both sexes using internet for above mentioned purposes. After that, 1 to 3 hours per day was maximum utilized time by youngsters in doing both gaming and chatting. When we observe the total almost equal hours are spent by both sexes on each activity.
On the one hand, less than 1 hour per day is spend on chatting by around 25% adolescents. 60% of girls and 50% of boys spend 1 to 3 hours per day talking through webspace. Furthermore, about 69% teenage girls and around 55% of boys spend more than 4 hours doing the same. When we look at the total column, approximately 61% juveniles used internet for conversing for more than 4 hours daily. About 57% of children were seen using it for 1 to 3 hours and 25% used it for less than 1hour per day.
On the other hand, about 82% of boys and 51% of girls played games on internet for more than 4 hours daily. Regarding, 1 to 3 hours per day slot around 73% of males and 50% girls were noted playing consoles. Looking at, 30% boys and 37% girls played who were playing game consoles for less than an hour. It is evident that boys played video games more than girls who spent more time on chats. The total also showed 32% and 62 % of adolescents playing for less than 1 hour and 1 to 3 hours per day respectively. 69% teenagers spent more than 4 hours per day in doing these fun activities.
