The chart illustrates the number of incidents that occured to three different crime actions in Newport city centre in the span of 9 years between 2003 and 2012. Overall, burglary happened to be the most common cases in the city centre out of three areas of crime.
In 2003, burglary had the most number of incidents in nearly 3500 cases. But, the cases increased to around 3700 in a year, and faced extreme fluctuation for the rest of the year. Decreasing drastically to reach the lowest peak with more than 1000 incidents in 2008. After heavy encounter, increased steadily just below 1500 cases until 2012. Car theft, as the second most common incidents, had about 2800 incidents in the beginning and also faced more stable fluctuation, however, car theft became the highest number in incidents in 2012. Nonetheless, robbery remained to have the lowest number in both 2003 and 2012. With only over 500 cases and also had inconstancy number until the late 2012.
