The charts illustrate the population growth of 5 cities (Tokyo, New York, Shanghai, Bombay, and Jakarta) in three different years (1990, 2010 and 2030). It also depicts the division of World’s population into Urban and Rural areas.
In the year 1990, maximum population was encountered in Tokyo (little bit greater than 15 million) and least in Jakarta (around 3 million). The population of New York (14.5 million) was slightly less than that of Tokyo. Also population of Shanghai (around 12 million) is more than double than that of Bombay (5 million). Along with that population in rural and urban area displayed a gradual increase with a population of 3 billion and 2 billion respectively.
Tokyo again topped in the ranking chart of 2010 with a population of around 24 million. Jakarta’s population was tripled than the year 1990 which was around 9 million. Population of Shanghai and New York showed a little increase by around 2 million and 1 million respectively. Bombay’s population in 2010 was same as that of Shanghai in 1990. In the year 2010, population in urban area’s showed a sudden increase while the population in rural area was becoming steady.
The population of Bombay and Jakarta in 2030 will project a massive increase in there population from 12 million to 26 million and from 9 million to 18 million respectively. Population of Tokyo and Shanghai reached at 28 million and 18 million respectively. Also there was a slight increase of 1 million population in New York from 15.5 million to 16.5 million approximately.
Hence the world’s population is increasing with increasing in time, especially in urban areas.
