The chart indicates the proportions of households in owned and rented housing, recording in England and Wales from 1918 and 93 years later. As can be seen from the graph, when it came to family, rented accommodation held higher positions than its counterpart during the entire years.

In the beginning period from 1918 to 1971, numbers from temporary-living houses saw a gradual drop, during the same span, the percentages rose steadily in permanent-living houses. In detail, households in owned accommodations had a decline from just short of 80 percent to 50 percent, whereas rented houses’ figures ended up with the same result, but over 53 years of increasing, from slightly above 20 percent to 50 percent.

At the second stage of the report, private housing continued its growth, reaching a peak in 2001 with the number of merely 70 percent, and subsequently falling back to approximately 63 percent. The rented housing bottomed at 33 percent, then promptly bounced back by 5 percent.
