The bar chart below depict information about percentage of English and Welsh' leased and possessed accommodations during 1918 to 2011. Overall, it is noticeable that owned and rented accommodations showed opposite trend.

Looking at the chart at more detail, in 1918, owned accommodations stood at around 22% where rented housings was at approximately 78%. After that, possessed accommodations started to rise and reached about 41% in 1961, while leased accommodations started to decrease to about 58% in 1961. In 1971, both owned and rented housings stood at 50%.

In 1981, owned housings started to increase and stood at 60%, while leased housings began to decrease to 40%. After 1981, possessed accommodations continued to rise to approximately 69% at 2001, before slightly dropped to about 65% in 2011. Meanwhile, rented accommodations also continued to decrease after 1981, to about 31% at 2001, before experienced a slight increase to around 37% in 2011.
