The chart presents the time spent on the telephone in the UK from 1995 to 2002, considering three types of line: local (fixed line), national and overseas (fixed line) and mobile (all calls).

Overall, the local fixed line was the most used throughout the period by the Birtish. However, national and international calls, as well as mobile calls, increased year on year abbreviating the gap with local line.

Time spent on local calls fluctuated from 70 billions of minutes until the peak of 90 billions of minutes in 1999. After that, it gradually decreased to the original amount of 70 billions of minutes by 2002.

On the other hand, national and international fixed line show an upward trend over the period, starting from around 40 billions and less than 5 billion respectively in 1995 to 60 billions for the former and almost 45 billions for the latter in 2002. In addiction, the usage of mobiles quadrupled from 1999 to 2002.
