Given is the bar chart which compares the structure of teaching staff categorized by gender in six various types of educational settings in the UK in the year 2010. What stands out from the chart is the dominence of women in nursery and elementary schools, while the reserve is true for university.

In three out of the six settings, female outnumbered male. Female teachers constituted considerately larger proportion of total teachers in low-aged settings: nursery/pre-school, primary school and secondary school. Especially, the level of female teachers was above forty times bigger than male’s in the nursery(96% and 4% respectively) and 9 times higher in primary school(92% and 8%). The gender gap became smaller in secondary school, and vanished in college.

On the other hand, in general, the rate of male teachers exceeded that of female teachers in private training institute and university. In particular, the former was more than double the latter in university (roughly 70 men vs 30 women).

Overall, the chart reveals that juvenile educational settings was female-dominated regarding to teaching staff; however, male had a significant presence in private training institute and university.
