The two bar charts show the proportion of energy consumption from fossil fuels and renewable energy sources in the UK and the USA in 2000 and 2006.
Overall, it can be seen that usage of energy from fossil fuels was higher in two countries in 2000 and in 2006 than the consumption from nuclear power and other renewable energy sources.
In 2000, in the UK and in the USA main sources for energy were oil and gas which accounted for approximately 60% and approximately 78% respectively. The consumption of energy from gas in the UK was at just under 20% while in the USA it was at about 13%. The UK consumed energy from nuclear power and the USA uses this sources for energy two times less. Energy from other renewable sources were less than 10% in both countries.
With regards to 2006, both countries used energy from oil more than in 2000 and it accounted for 30% in the UK and 40% in the USA. The consumption of energy from coal in the UK and the USA was two times less in 2006 than in 2000, while energy usage from gas was two times higher in both countries. The consumption of energy from renewable sources and nuclear power remained approximately at the same level as it was in 2000.
