Essay topics:

The city of Brandfield. City planners have decided to build a new shopping mall for the area, and two sites, S1 and S2 have been proposed.

In the map above we can see the proposed plan for building the shopping mall in two sites which was proposed by the city planners for the city of Brandfield. The map also gives more context about the area in which the proposed malls would be built. We could take a look at the ecology of the sites and how it would be either improved or disturbed.

Site S1, seems to be a very ideal site for byilding a shopping mall as it encompassed by the resendential housing estate, the public place of city centre and decently distanct from the industrial estate. We can also see the presence of a river just beside the proposed site. Which gives a lot of opportunnities for the city planners for landscaping. Setting up a shopping mall at this location would make is more accessible to the people resulting in the mall being profiatble and the place turing into a social gathering hub.

However the site S2, doesn't seem to be a wise choice due to it's sheer geographical constraints and the lack of ease in accessing the mall. The proposed site is surrounded by roads on two sides and a railway track on the third. Also, the mall seems to be distant from the residential complex which might not encourage the people in frequently visiting the mall. Additionally the site is in the vicinity of the idustrial estate. It is unclear of environmental impacts on the site.

Overall, the sites need to be reviewed and evaluated on the pros and cons for each of them. The S1 seems to be the obvious consideration however there might be certain unknowns regarding the economical impacts on such a ideal site and other unknown factors.
