The two maps illustrates how the town of Langley transformed in a span of five decades. The layout shows the replacement of major industrial properties in to a residential complex and enhancement in the community developed for children.
Overall, there is a tremendous impact in the Langley town in every aspect. It is evident that the wastelands are largely reformed for betterment of the local residents. Though there is no change in the location of laundry and café, the grocery stores in the town shows an improved version occupying almost three times it's actual area in 1910.
In 1910, the Sherman street accommodated petty houses with a single store, laundry and café. Nearly 60% of the area around the Sherman street seems to be a wasteland that consists of a factory and cottages for railway workers. The railway line in 1910 forms a fence around the Sherman and Jordan street. The Jordan street adored itself with small townhouses equally spaced and well organized. There are many greeneries around the houses which gives it an aesthetic appeal.
By 1950, the Langley town varied a ton when compared with the year 1910. Wastelands and the entire railway sector are refurbished in to an attractive Sherman park for Children. The small houses and the factory above are conditioned in to a relatively huge Sherman's Mansions. Two more stores are added to the locality and entirely relocated to the right side of the recreational park. However, the bucolic appearance of the Jordan street with townhouse gardens were entirely destroyed and engendered the comparatively unattractive flats.
