the diagram below shows the stages and equipment is used in cement making process and how cement is used to produce concrete for building purpose.
The given to diagrams depicts the steps and equipments involved in production of cement and concrete. The stages are clearly and coherently represented.
At a glance, there are five steps involved in cement manufacturing; Crushing, Mixing, Heating, Grinding and Packaging, and only one step is involved in concrete preparation; which is mixing.
By visualising the first diagram, which is for cement preparation, it can be seen that two raw materials; limestone and clay, are crushed to form a fine powder. This powder is then mixed well in the mixer, and passed to Rotary heater for heating the contents. The heated material is then ground in the Grinder to form fine particles of cement which is packed in bags of suitable capacity.
In the second diagram, which gives process for concrete manufacturing, it can be observed that four raw materials; cement, water, sand and gravel are required. The gravel which is used is small stones. The proportions for gravel, sand, water and cement are 50%, 25%, 10% and 15% respectively. The measured quantities are introduced in concrete mixer to form concrete of desired consistency.
