The pie charts above presented details of Australian household energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions respectively.

The first pie chart shows the percentage of different sources of energy use. Namely, water heating, heating, refrigeration, cooling, lighting, and other appliances. Among them, heating and water heating complies of 42% and 30%, which jointly constitute over 70% of the total energy consumption. In contrast, refrigerator, cooling and lighting make 7%, 2% and 4% respectively. The rest proportion is represented by other appliances, with around 15%.

The second chart presents the greenhouse gas emissions by consumed different energy sources shown in first chart. Likewise, water heating generated largest part of greenhouse gas, with 32% of total emissions. Followed by other appliances, 28%; heating, 15%; refrigeration, 14%. The rest of gas emissions is contributed by lighting 8% and 3% for cooling.

To summarize, over 70% of energy consumption from Australian household is for heating and water heating. However, these two items only contribute roughly 47% of total greenhouse gas. Meanwhile, 42% greenhouse gas is generated by other appliances and refrigeration.
