The pie charts compare the share of five major sources of energy consumption and gas emission in an Australian household.

Overall, the most significant proportion of energy is generally allocated to heating, followed by water heating. However, the latter is responsible for the largest amount of gas emitted.

Regarding the energy consumption, the highest percentage of energy is usually used for heating with just above 40%, which is considerably higher than that used for water heating (30%). Moreover, refrigerators consume nowhere near as high as heating, contributing to only 7% among all. There is a little difference between the figures for lighting and cooling, as the former accounts for merely 4%, while the share of the latter is lower by a margin of 2%. The remaining 15% is allocated to a variety of other appliances.

Turning to the gas emission, water heaters are responsible for the most significant share of the gas emission with 32%. Furthermore, heating and refrigeration comprise similar proportion and together contribute to the one-third of gas production. However, lighting and cooling produce the lowest percentage, at 8% and 3%, respectively. Finally, other appliances have also a considerable role in gas emission with 15%.
