The pie charts compare the ways of energy using by an average Australian household and the emissions of greenhouse gas from the energy used. Overall, heating is the category which consumes the energy most and the percentage of greenhouse gas emission in water heating is not too much different with its energy used.
If we look at the energy used chart, water heating stood at the second place in the list with near a third, while heating was the major consumer with 42%. Other appliances and refrigeration followed by water heating, at 15% and 17% respectively. The energy used by lighting was two times more than used of cooling with 4%.
In terms of greenhouse gas emissions, water heating was the main cause just under a third. Other appliances slightly less decreased than water heating, with 28%. Heating and refrigeration were not as much, with just 15% and 14% in turn. After that, the gas emission from lighting was just under a one tenth and cooling was the least emission with 3%.
