The tables compare 100000 of people reasons for traveling abroad and locations they visited between the years 1994 and 1998.

Overall, more than half of UK residents travel for holiday and leisure purposes. In the interim, majority of them prefer Western Europe as a favorite destination, while North America was the least preferred as survey showed. However, the number of people traveling abroad is generally on the rise.

Regarding the first table, the number of individuals that vacate for leisure purposes were tremendously increased around 5000 individuals in four years. Nevertheless, going away for a business or paying friends and family a visit were much less popular over the time period despite the steady rise of numbers of individuals which were 3155 and 2689 in 1994 and reached 3957 and 3181 in 1998 respectively. While traveling for other reasons fluctuated around 1000 over the same time period.

According to the second table, the number of travelers preferred Western Europe were on the rise. With similar trend that can be seen in other destination but less in number. Nonetheless, the estimated growth in number of individuals vacate to Western Europe was more than 5000 compared to merely about 1000 individuals went North America. While traveling for other areas slightly increased from 1782 in 1994 to 2486 in 1998.
