The two maps depict the layout of the centre of a town from its establishment in 1700 to present day.
Overall, the town looks modernized now compared to the past after many modifications have been taken place.
To initiate with the development of town centre, the market square, which is right in the centre of the town, has not changed over three centuries. Another feature that has remained the same is the church located in the centre, next to market square. The hotel has been expanded which can be observed in the left side of the market square at present times. Replacement of goode farm in the northern side, by car park and accommodation area can be experienced in these days. Accommodation facilities has been introduced by building rows of house and block of flats has been erected by eliminating stables in the eastern part of the town centre.
House occupied the south east corner that is covered by supermarket. More shops and houses are built in the south side. North west corner of town centre remained same and steggle farm, which can be seen in the south west side of the 1700s map is no longer there. The roads have been modernized and traffic lights, a roundabout and zebra crossing have been added in recent times.
