The graph below compares figures for the production and consumption of energy in the US from 1950 to 2000. It also predicts figures for 2025.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

The rendered line graph depicts the information pertaining the amount of energy produced and consumed in the United States of America between 1950 and 2000 as well as a forecast for 2025. The data has been calibrated in units.

On a fleeting glance, it is vivid that the consumption and production of energy in US was near about 25 units at the begining of 1950 and grew steadly with minor differnce reached 55 and 65 units for consumption and production respectively in 1975.

Moving further, after 1975 utilisation of energy was growing faster than production. As a result, US had to import approximately 20 units of energy till 2000. The gap between demand and supply was increasing with time and it is estimated that demand of supply will reached at peak level of 140 units in 2025 which will be twofold higher than production of energy.

Overall, the consumption of energy was higher than production , thus US was forced to import energy to fulfill the insufficient supply.
