The chart illustrates the energy consumed by America since 1980 and predicts its consumption until 2030.
Overall, it can be seen that the consumptions of six different types of energy gradually increase over the period, with the exception of hydropower which only remains stable.
According to the graph, nuclear, solar/wind and hydropower energy were all equal in 1980 at around 4 quadrillion units. On the other hand, petrol and oil was the most consumed energy with 35 quadrillion units, followed by coal and natural gas with 20 and 16 quadrillion units respectively.
Throughout the history, from 1980 to 2010, it is clear that the three least used energy still remained stable and only increased slightly by about one to three quadrillion units. At the same time, the top three energy consumptions fluctuated significantly, reaching the amount that was higher than the initial points.
It is projected that the consumption of nuclear, solar and hydropower will continue to remain at the same place until 2030, while petrol and oil, coal are predicted to rise dramatically, reaching its peak of 47 and 30 quadrillion units in 2030 accordingly. However, natural gas predictions is to remain unchanged at around 23 quadrillion units
