The line graph illustrates how much carbon dioxide is emitted by one person in four European countries from 1967 to 2007.
Overall, the carbon dioxide emission in Italy and Portugal dropped down while the other two countries (UK and Sweden) rose up. Also, out of all the countries, United Kingdom released the highest amount of CO2 throughout the years
For the countries that experienced an upward trend, Italy and Portugal started out at only 1 and 4.1 metric tonnes before the figures gradually increased up to 5 metric tonnes and slightly below 8 metric tonners in 1997. Afterward in 2007, the number reached its peak in Italy at approximately 5 metric tonnes, equalizing with Sweden in their average emissions, while Italy remained stable during this period.
Meanwhile, the rest two countries experienced a downward trend. Their numbers are considered to be very high at nearly 9 metric tonnes in Sweden and 11 metric tonnes in UK. The figures rose up slightly above 10 metric tonnes for Sweden in 1977 while in England, the number is stable before the country's emission dropped down to only 9 and 5 metric tonnes in 2007. Out of the two countries, Sweden's dropping seemed to be more intense and sharp especially during 1977 to 1987.
