In detail, in 1967 Italy and Portugal had average CO2 emissions of approximately 4.2 metric tonnes, and roughly 1.8 metric tonnes, respectively. The number then kept increasing until 1997, where Italy reached about 7.8 metric tonnes while Portugal reached around 4.5 metric tonnes. After that, both Italy and Portugal experienced steady trend where both of their CO2 emissions number did not change in 2007.
Meanwhile, United Kingdom and Sweden's trends began at approximately 10.5 metric tonnes and around 8.5 metric tonnes, respectively in 1967. Next, while in 1977 United Kingdom's CO2 emissions number dropped into around 10.5 metric tonnes, Sweden's number climbed into around 10.3 metric tonnes. After that, United Kingdom's CO2 emissions number decreased steadily into 10 metric tonnes while Sweden experienced significant decrease into around 7 metric tonnes in 1987. Lastly, until 2007 both countries' CO2 emissions numbers kept decreasing into around 10.5 metric tonnes for United Kingdom, and approximately 5.8 metric tonnes for Sweden.
