The line graph illustrates the average production of carbon dioxide by one person in four different European countries between 1967 and 2007 measured in metric tons.

Overall, it can be seen that the United Kingdom produced the most amount of carbon dioxide over the period and it is worth to note that the emission of carbon dioxide have upward trend in Italy and Portugal and Sweden has downward trend.

In 1967, CO2 emission in the UK and Sweden stood at approximately 11 and 8.8 respectively. Then during the first 10 years CO2 emission in the UK declined marginally while Sweden saw exponential rise and comprised of 10.2 in 1977. CO2 emission in the UK continued to decline gradually to finish the period at about 8.9 while emission in Sweden decreased significantly to a low of about 5.2 in 2007, it was the lowest figure among four countries.

CO2 emission in Portugal and Italy accounted for about 1.1 and 4.2 in 1967. For the next 4 decades CO2 emission in Portugal and Italy followed a similar trend, increasing steadily to 5 for Portugal and just under 8 for Italy.
