Overall, United Kingdom made the largest amount of carbon dioxide, while constantly decreased its emissions during the given time. The average carbon dioxide emission in Sweden also dropped gradually, after rising at the first 10 years. In the case of Italy and Portugal, the amount of emissions augmented in general and surpassed the figure of Sweden in different time.

British made over 10 metric tonne in 1967 and gradually dropped at over 8 metric tonne in 2007. Sweden had similar trend with UK, reaching peak at slightly over 10 metric tonne in 1977 and dramatically decreased to under 6 metric tonne in 2007. On the other hand, Italy and Portugal showed the opposite trend, starting at over 4 metric tonne and under 2 metric tonne in 1967 respectively and reaching at just below 8 metric tonne and under 6 metric tonne in 2007 respectively with little fluctuation. In the case of Italy, its amount of emissions surpassed that of Sweden in 1987 and Portugal also made more than Sweden in 2007.
