The graph below shows the consumption of fish and some different kinds of meat in a European country between 1979 and 2004. Summarize the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

The line graph provides a comparison of the consumption of fish and meat in a particular European country during 1979-2004. The unit which was used in the chart is the number of grams per one person per week.

It is clear, in general, that although beef was the most popular type of meat at the beginning of the period, it was replaced by chicken from 1989 to the end of the survey. In contrast, fish remained the least favorite choice during this period.

In the first year, beef was the most popular with a consumption of about 220 grams per person per week. Then, this figure experienced a fluctuation moderately between 180 grams and 230 grams in the next five years, after falling steeply to around half as high as its starting point in 2004. Meanwhile, the pattern of lamb dropped rapidly from the highest point in 1979, at 150 grams, to the bottom with just below 50 grams at the end of the period.

In contrast, although the pattern for chicken was initially high as that for lamb, it witnessed considerable growth and reached a peak of approximately 60 in the last year. Strikingly, chicken was only the third common choice at the beginning of the period, it overcame others products to become the most popular consumption at the end of the period. Finally, while all other products saw a period of volatility, the use of fish had been relatively stable at around 50 for twenty-five years.
