The three-line graph indicates the percentages of elderly people in one Asian country and two western countries namely Japan, and Sweden and USA respectively over 100 years period

Overall, the proportion of elderly people in the three countries is all under 10% and the USA had the greatest percentage of elder people with about 8% to 9%. As can be seen from the graph, the proportion in the elderly of three countries had increase from 1940 to 2014 and is thought to increase till 2040.

From the beginning of the survey to 1990, the elderly percentage of the three countries fluctuated. In particular, the two western countries had the same increased patterns around 14% in 1990 while the other had increased and just under 5% in 1990.

Since 1990, the elderly proportion in Sweden and Japan had risen where as that of the USA seem keep in stable. In 2014, Sweden has the largest proportion of the elderly among the three countries about 20% while Japan has the smallest with about 10%.

From now to 2030, the percentage of elderly people in Japan and USA are expected to rise whereas this percentage in Sweden is supposed to decrease from 20% to 18%.

In the last ten years of the period, the elderly people percentages in the three countries are forecast to grow. This proportion of Japan will have a dramatic increase from 10% to about 27% while Sweden and USA is thought to have about 25% and 23% respectively.
