The graph below shows the proportion of the population aged 65 and over between 1940 and 2040 in three different countries

The figure illustrates the percentage of older adults in Japan, Sweden, and the USA from 1940 to 2040.
Overall, it can be observed in all three countries there is an increasing trend for the old population. Although, Japan, with 23% enhancement, has the highest rising rate during 100 years.
According to the graph, there is about 5% increase for the population aged 65 and over between 1940 and 1980 in Sweden and USA. In comparison, the proportion of elderly people decrease to 3% in Japan.

The figure shows that after the USA's steady phase and fluctuating trend for Sweden between 1980 and 2040, the rising trend begins again. However, this rising behavior starts in 1990 for Japan and dramatically grew from 2030 to 2035.
