The graph illustrates the proportion of the citizens aged 65 and above among USA, Sweden and Japan over a century (1940-2040).
Overall, Population among all three countries have increased dramatically. USA and Sweden have similar trend whereas the Japan has a sudden increase around the year 2030. Initially, the population of Japan is closely 5%. However, in the year 2040, the percentage is above 25%, which is at apex compared with other two countries.
USA and Sweden have similar trend among them. In 1940, the population of Sweden was between 5 and 10, which eventually increased to nearly 25% in the year of 2040. Initially, the population of Sweden was lower than USA, and it will overcome it in the year 2040.
In Japan, the percentage decreased slightly from 5% to 3 % approximately from 1940 to 1980 approximately, while it increases slightly again after the year 2000. The population will sudden increase in 2030 and will be ahead of USA and Sweden in the year 2040.
