The line graph illustrates the percentage of population aged 65 and over in Japan ,Sweden and USA over a period of 100 years, from 1940 to 2040.
Overall, it is clear that the number of elderly increase significantly throughout the time shown. Another noticeable that Japanese is deemed to be become a country that has the highest percentage of people who are 65 over over.
In the year 1940 ,the proportion of population in Japan was the lowest proportion with just stood at 5%. By contrast, the population of Sweden was totally higher than that of Japanese around 2% and the figure in USA was nearly twice times, compared with the population in Japan at the same time. Over the following 20 years, the number of Japanese had a sight decrease and relative stable remained before it rose sharply in 1980. The number of people aged 65 and over in USA and Sweden continuous increased by the time until in 1980.
In 1980, the proportion of population went up close to 10% in 2020 and its peak the point at approximately 27% at the end of period. In 1980, USA and Sweden had the percentage of population at nearly the same. USA people who was 65 or older kept this amount until in 2020, before went up to nearly 25%. Similarly, the percentage of population in Sweden ended at the point just over 25%, higher than that of USA.
