The graph demonstrates that how many goods are transported by using road, water, rail and pipelines modes in the UK from 1974 to 2002.

Overall, It is viewed that, a huge number of products was transported through road than other modes of transportation in the period of 28 years. By contrast, pipeline was considered the most unfavorable method over the period.

To begin, at the beginning in 1974, the quantities of goods transported by road stood at 70 million tonnes and reached to the highest amount that 100 million tonnes at the end of 2002 with a great fluctuation between 1978 and 1998. Whereas, the second highest was followed by the water transportation stood at below 40 in 1974 with a fluctuated- uplift till 1998. After that, there was a rapid rise and reached to 65 million tonnes.

The numbers of good transported by rail and pipelines were standing at 40 and 5 respectively. The goods transported by the pipeline experienced a steady climb up to late 1994. After that, the graph went in a plateau until the end of period. The quantity of goods transported by the rails was 40 million tonnes in 1974 and it witnessed a fluctuation movement under 40. But there is a slight increment at the end of year.
