Looking at more detail, in spite of fluctuation, the road was the most popular mode, rising from approximately 70 million tonnes in 1974 to almost 100 tons in 2002. Water was the second most popular transport, the figure stood at 40 in 1974, after a sharp growth by 1982, it remained relatively stable at nearly 60 tons by 2002. Although the pipeline was the least used transport, it experienced gradually increase, with only 5 tons in 1974 to more than 20 in 2002.
On the other hand, the utilization of rail fluctuated over the period, backing to the initial number eventually.
