The line graph demonstrates the proportion of unemployment in US and Japan during 1993 and 1999. Looking more closely at the trend, it can be clearly seen an opposite form of 2 countries. US has a downward trend whereas Japan has upward trend.

Firstly, US unemployed people were the highest point at 1993, 7 per cent, while it was the lowest point in Japan 2.5 per cent. After that, the figure illustrates a fluctuating decrease during 6-year period from 7 per cent to 5 per cent in 1993 and 1999 respectively. Secondly, Japan unemployment rate had gradually increased to 5 per cent from 1993 and 1999 respectively, there were a consecutive rise every single year. Finally, the graph unveils the intersection between 2 nations in 1998 at 5 per cent.

In conclusion, the evidence shows that United States unemployment situation had been getting better in 6-year period while Japan had an opposite in tendency.
