The pictures illustrate the wild salmon's life cycle in term of ecology in each stage of growth. Looking at the charts, there are three main process of salmon before they are maturation.
First, we always find salmon's eggs in slow moving river near stones and reeds, taking 5-6 months before infants move out from their eggs. Generally, we called them as fry which has length from tail to head around 3-8 cm. Second, young salmon moves to lower river where flow is faster. Typically, it takes 4 years living until their size is about 12-15 cm, and we named it "smolt". After that, smolt migrates to an open sea, living for 5 year. When, its size is 70-76 centimeter, it is identified as adult salmon which means they are maturation and ready for breeding season. Finally, adult salmon go back where they were born for laying eggs, slow moving at high river.
In conclusion, salmon life always happens repeatedly, and its life cycle take almost 10 years.
