The graphs below show information about citizenship in the UK.

The two charts provide information about the number of people who were able to acquire UK citizenship from year 1962 to year 2002. It also illustrate the distrubution of the immigrants' origin over the 6 year period.

Overall, there is a noticeable rise in figure for those who became British citizen during the 40 year period and most of them consist of Asians.

To begin with, in 1962, the government of the UK has granted 20,000 immigrants a citizenship. The figure then fluctuated from 35,000 in 1972 to 30,000 in 1982 and finally 50,000 in 1992. Afterwards, it increased considerably in 2002 wherein approximately 110,000 people received citizenship.

Regarding the composition of where these newly UK citizens came from, the data compared the value in year 1996 and 2002. Most of these immigrants came from Asia, which accounts for 49,000, followed by Africans and Europeans both represented at 9,000 and the least are from America and Australasia at 5,000. It should be noted as well that the figure of settlers in England increased substantially in year 2002. The number of Asians has risen to 58,000 and figure for Africans and Europeans rose dramatically to 25,000 and 27,000 respectively. However, America and Australasias' number dropped slightly to 4,000.
