The graphs illustrate the proportion of full car driving licence holders in Great Britain categorised by gender and different age groups in 1975/76 and 2006.
Overall, it is evident that the percentages of men and women having driving licences in 2006 were relatively higher for all age categories, except for those aged between 21 and 29, than the figures in 1975/76.
Regarding the British males possessing driving licences, the proportion of those in 17-20 and 30-39 age groups witnessed insignificant disparities in two given periods, at slightly less than 40% and just over 80%, respectively. There was an approximately 8% difference in the categories of men aged 21-29 and 40-49. Almost 90% of men under the 50-59 and 60-69 age category proved to have licences in 2006, which was higher than the previous given year by around 15% and roughly 30%, respectively.
Turning to the data about women, the percentage of 70 and over aged females accounted for around 8% in 1975/76, which was recorded as the smallest figure. However, the number of women with driving licences experienced a considerable growth over the period. Ultimately, the highest figure was for 80% women who were 40-49 years old in 2006.
