The maps illustrate a number of changes which have taken place in Castellon since 2000.
Overall, it can be obviously seen that the Castellon has witnessed striking transformation with the most noticeable being the addition of new facilities with the exception of university. Besides, that change is accompanied with the replacement and upgrading some amenities.
Looking at details, one of the most radical changes is that the train station has been renovated and relocated into a new place lying between university and city center, leading to the existence of a completely new police station .Another notable transformation is that the trees on the northeastern corner of the first map have been chopped down to make room for a new shopping center.Besides, the demolition of the old market has resulted in a new shop at present time. There was a road running from the west to the east in 2000 but it has been pedestrianized to serve walking and bike-cycling, with the rental bikes from city center nearby.
Furthermore, another major change has been the appearance of some new amenities. To the south, the port area has been transformed into an entertainment zone, with the erection of a cinema, bars and clubs. A new tramline connecting university and city center has been constructed. There has been construction of a new hall of residence to the west of the university and a new covered market and an under construction airport to the south of the city center on vacant ground.
