The pie charts compare the average household expenditures in six categories in a country between 1950 and 2010. From the general perspective, different trends in the percentage of household spending could be observed, all categories had an increase, except in housing.
It is evident from the information provided that housing had the highest percentage of household expenditure at over 70% in 1950, followed by food, education. After 60 years, a reversal could be seen in the proportion of household spending of housing and food, in which the percentage of food rose significantly from 11.2% to 34%, while this figure of housing declined considerably by 50%. Consequently, food was at the top of household expenditure, surpassing housing at the end of the period.
In 60 years, housing's percentage of household expenditure experienced a reduction thus this figure in education, transportation and other experienced a growth but still low. Similarly, health care's percentage of household spending grew slightly from 2.4% to 4.5% and continued at the bottom of the percentage of household spending over the period.
