The Pie charts below show preferred social media channels for youth in the UK.

The pie charts illustrate the most and least favorite internet platforms for socializing with friends and family among the youth of the Britain from 2010 till 2012.

Overall, Facebook seems to be the most utilized social media channel throughout the time period, while Twitter was second favorite application among youth. The least used platform was Pinterest.

Looking at the charts, Facebook seems to hold the largest share of the pie. Even though it remained the top favorite, it did loose some space to other applications over the years. Facebook went from 59% shares in 2010 to 38% in 2012. Meanwhile, twitter, while remaining second, gained followers during the same period, going from 21% in 2010 to 25% in 2012, which was opposite to Facebook.

Linkedin, Google and Pinterest, all combined accounted for merely 20% of the total social media use among youth in 2010. Despite gaining some ground to Twitter and Facebook during 2011 and 2012, they still remained the lowest utilized form of socializing platforms. In 2011 they collectively held 28% shares of the pie, which increased to 37% in 2012, but they still remained among the bottom three
