Summarize the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

The following table shows how the modes of travel changed in England in a 15-year period of 1985 to 2000.
As can be clearly observed from the table, travel modes can be divided into three distinctive groups including environment friendly, private, and public modes. The first group consisted of walking and bicycle. Both of them experienced a slight decline, from 255 and 51 miles in 1985 to 237 and 41 miles in 2000, respectively.
Using car to travel was placed in private mode. Average miles which were travelled by car per person per year was the highest among other modes in both 1985 by 3199 and 2000 by 4806 miles. The third group included local and long-distance bus, train, and taxi. Unlike local bus, which its average distance declined dramatically from 429 in 1985 to 274 in 2000, other modes of this group witnessed different levels of rise. Train had the most distance mileage in this group in 2000 by 366 miles, although its distance was 289 in 1985. Followed by long-distance bus, with 54 miles of 1985 and 124 miles in 2000, and taxi started from 13 miles in 1985 and reached 42 miles in 2000.
Overall, it is clear from the table that other modes of travel went up significantly between 1985 to 2000, from 450 to 585 miles. Meanwhile, the total distance which was travelled by all modes observed a remarkable increase. It was 4740 in 1985 in comparison with 6475 miles in 2000.
