The table compares 3 different European nations in terms of medical treatment during the period from 1982 to 2000.
In overall, in terms of the number of physicians provided, there was an upward trend during the whole period, while the oppsite trend was witnessed in the amount of time staying in the hospital. Moreover, although the number of beds allocated in Austria and Sweden decreased significantly, the figure for Sweden saw an increase from 1982 to 2002.
According to the number of doctors, Austria employed the lowest number of specialists in 1982 ,at only 18 thousands. However, this figure then significantly increased in the next 20 years and reached a highest position of 32 thousands in 2002. Likewise, France and Sweden, which started with a higher number of medical employees than Austia,at 19 thousands and 20 thousands each, saw a less remarkable increase than this country in the next period, accounting for only 31 thousands and 30 thousands at the end.
Regarding to the average number of beds provided in the medical facilities, while Austria and Sweden decided to decrease their possessions by 4 thousands and 10 thousands respectively, France was the only nation witnessed an outstanding growth in the next 20-year period.Turning to the length of stay in hospital, Sweden, which accounted for the longest number of days in 1982, also saw the most significant fall to only 6 days in 2002. Although the figures for Austria and France experienced the same trend, both 2 countries shrinked less compared to Sweden.
