According to the table, among all families the highest level of poverty belonged to families with sole parent, which is 21%, whereas poverty rate for a couple with children was only 12%. When it comes to people without children, poverty level among single people is much higher (19%) in comparison to couples (7%). In contrast, lowest level of poverty can be seen among elderly, to be precise, it is 6% for single aged person and 4% for aged couple. Similar pattern is observed across all subgroups: couples tend to have lower poverty rate in contrast to single people.

To conclude, highest proportion of poor people is sole parent, while lowest rate of poverty is observed among aged people. Overall, 11% of all Australians from all household were considered to be poor.
