The table compares the percentages of the British people’s income went to four different categories in the year 1998.
It’s clear that the money spent on music related to children was the top consumption among the respondents, and the proportion between boys and girls were nearly the same. While, it seemed watching videos were the least popular entertainment in the UK.
Expenditures on music for children was the largest proportion seen in the table at 39%, boys’ and girls’ at 38% and 40% respectively. But, the given number in music of adults were merely 5%, nearly eight times less than that of children. Food was the second predominant expenditure for adults, there were 25% of them. However, women’s percentage was 39%, over doubled than men’s data, only 14%.
23% of children owned electronic equipment, with different patterns between boys and girls, taking up 18% and 5% separately. Also, the divergence on electronic equipment also could be seen amongst adults, women just 1% but men 10%. Children expended money on food at 10% and videos occupying 12% as well, not much difference between boys and girls’ data. The figures of videos were nearly neglect according to the table.
