TOPIC: The pie charts below show units of electricity production by fuel source in Australia and France in 1980 and 2000.
Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

The given pie charts display electricity generation from different fuel sources in Australia and France in two years, 1980 and 2000.
Overall, the total electricity production in both countries almost doubled over that period. While coal was the largest producer of electricity in Australia in both years. France used nuclear power more in recent years to generate energy.

As is observed from the pie charts, coal was used to produce half of the total 100 units of electricity in Australia in 1980, rising to 130 out of 170 units after two decades, remaining the top position. Initially, 20 units of electricity were manufactured by natural gas and hydropower, while oil was responsible for 10 units. By 2000, the figure for hydropower increased by 16 units, while that of the other sources both declined, to 2 units each.
On the contrary, in France, 90 units of electricity was created at first, which most of which came from coal, natural gas, and oil, at 25, 25 and 20 units respectively. By 2000, the totals doubled, and there saw a growth of five units in oil and a plateau in coal, while natural gas and hydropower reduced to produce only 2 units each. At the same time, nuclear power, with a dramatic increase to 126 units, became the predominant source of electricity generation.
