WRITING TASK 1
You should spend about 20 minutes on this task.
The table below provides statistics on several major metro (MRT) systems around the world.
Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main feature and make comparisons where relevant.
Write at least 150 words

Given is a graph providing a comparison of age, length and capacity of metro systems in six different regions (namely London, Paris, Tokyo, Washington DC, Kyoto, and Los Angeles).
It is apparent from the information supplied that older metro systems are longer and more crowded compared to newer ones.
Looking at the details, the most ancient MRT is located in London. It was constructed in 1863 with a total length of 1100 kilometres, which is approximately double that in Paris. Second in terms of age is the metro system of Paris, which was built in 1890 and is also the second largest system, at 594 kilometres. The two newest and also shortest metro stations, meanwhile, come from Kyoto and Los Angeles. They were built in 1980 and 2001, and are 11 and 14 kilometres in length respectively.
It is also interesting to note that Tokyo has the most productive metro system than any other places listed, with 1434 million passengers every year. This is followed by the Paris system, with 850 million. Come bottom of the list are that of Washington DC and Kyoto as these two metro systems carry just some 70 and 11 million passengers each year respectively.
