The graphs below show the enrolments of overseas students and local students in Australian universities over a ten year period.

The graphs depict the trend of international students and local students who enroll to universities in Australian for a ten year period.
As can be seen in the graphs, the total number of local students was fewer than international students.
Firstly, the total figure for students who enrolled in Australia University from overseas was overwhelmed by local students with the former occupying 20.000 and with the latter boasting 40.000 in 2001. Turning more details, the number of overseas students increased dramatically and then reached the peak by 80.000. Another point to mention is that there was a similar trend could be witnessed for local students. Clearly enough, this figures climbed rapidly to 60.000 and then remaining stable from 2007 to 2010.
By contract, the number of commencing international student rose significantly for a decade from 10.000 to 40.000. Meanwhile, the commencing of local students fluctuated from around 18.000 to 22.000 for this period.
Overall, it is noticeable that there are two general trends, upward and downward alternately.
