A friend who lives in another country has invited you to come and stay with him/her on your next holiday. You are too busy to accept the invitation. Write a letter to your friend. In your letter:

Thank him/her for the invitation.

Explain why you cannot come

Ask him about other times to visit.

You need to write at least 150 words.

Begin your letter with

Dear...

Dear Param,
Hope all is well with you!

I am writing to thank you for your invitation. Though I am dying to come and meet you, but unfortunately it won’t be possible as there are some tasks that I have to complete within that period.

Let me explain in a little more detail. As I told you last time, I’ve recently moved to a new role within my company and the work load in this function is quite high. This is majorly because we have to interact with the sales team on a daily basis and anything which impacts their numbers has to be attended to immediately. Moreover, we are facing staff crunch as a couple of my peers had resigned and left last week. Therefore, during the couple of days we have off in the next week, I am planning to complete the pending activities which are extremely important and urgent.

Alternatively, could you let me know if you are free in the Christmas holidays next month? An employee is going to join our team before that, and I am really hopeful that things will be under control by then! I’d also like to see your son, I suppose he would be 3 years old by now?

Please let me know!

Your friend,
Atul
