Pros and cons of alternative medicine
Have you ever thought about influence of alternative medicine on our health? It is becoming more and more common to get on bandwagon and use great variety of type of medicine either as complementary or mainstream one. Only in the USA, approximately billion dollars per year are spent on herbal remedies, acupuncture, and homeopathy and so on. While decision-making process is going in your mind, we take a closer look at pros and cons of alternative medicine.
The center of either acupuncture or homeopathy is balance of our bodies. An alternative practitioner always put on the first place your emotional and spiritual health using holistic approach to healing your problem. Whereas mainstream medicine focus on a separate part of a body, «bogus» medicine put all acts together to put a body’s energy into balance. However, in emergency cases we have to use conventional approach to relief pain and to stop bleeding because alternative therapies require long time and pay attention to changing your life style.
While the drugs and pills given by mainstream medicine doctor make you feel better, you should not hope to find some personal approach or special attention from medical staff. They are strapped for time and pressured by insurance companies. Whereas that is being so, there is great much of one-on-one attention in centers of alternative therapies. However, the considerable drawback is that there isn’t likelihood that a lot of patients are able to find a bargain in such places - the price tag is a rip-off.
Another pros of untraditional medicine is prevention of diseases encouraging people to lead healthy lifestyle and visiting doctors regularly. Nevertheless, conventional medicine might be rather useful in this sphere too if we didn’t resort to it in emergency cases, but use all evidence of it on regular base. Moreover, sham medicine is likely to be helpful for your friend and at the same time to put your health at risk of harm. Depending on great variety of individual factors and not having subject to scientific scrutiny, alternative medicine should be considered from all sides.
All in all, taking either mainstream or alternative medicine, we should keep in minds the ideas of balance – combine the different approaches taking the best from both.
