Write a letter to your landlord who wants to increase the house rent. Tell him what you will do if he increases.
Dear Mr. Shah,
I am writing in response to your notice to increase the rent of the apartment at Green Villa Avenue. In this letter, I state the reasons why the rent should not be raised in such a short duration.
For this apartment, it was agreed that rentals would be revised only after 1 year, and it has been just 6 months since we started staying here. If you want I can show you the agreement letters that were signed by both of us. Moreover, it would be unfair to increase the rent by 5000 Rupees, which is too much seeing the economy of the country. Thus, I do not agree with you on this new cost.
Apart from this, I have two children and they have started going school, which is nearby home. They are small and I do not prefer changing house now, so would urge you to re-consider this matter.
Since I like the house and is convenient for my family, I would not wish to re-allocate. Although I do not wish, but if you do not agree on keeping the rent unchanged, I will be forced to take the legal action for creating havoc by rising the rent in mid of the year.
I hope you give a thought on this and keep the rent as agreed before.
Yours sincerely,
XYZ.
