Write a letter to a former teacher. In your letter:
give details of the job
explain why it is important to you
suggest what information your teacher could put in the reference

Dear Sir,
I am writing to request for a letter of reference which I require for an overseas job I am applying for. Let me explain the situation in detail.

To elucidate the job I am applying is with a leading satellite operator for the role of Senior Sales Engineer. The role is based in Dubai and involves techno-commercial support on solutions and proposals to the regional sales team within the Middle East region. Although the role is based in Dubai however it involves travel to GCC countries to customer locations. As you are aware that my current job profile has limited exposure as I am handling Enterprise customers from India hence I believe that the new job opportunity will provide me with valuable experience to grow in my career.

Lastly, the letter of reference which should mention my behaviour and the projects which I completed during my college tenure.
I look forward to receiving a letter of reference.
Yours Sincerely
Saad
