You are studying English at a private language school attended by many international students. You are planning a surprise birthday party for a friend who has been feeling particularly sad and homesick. Write to another classmate and invite him / her to the party. In your letter:
explain the reason for the party
give the date and time of the party
suggest what the classmate could bring to the party
Dear Keil,
How’s it going? I’m writing to invite you to a surprise party which I have planned for Josh in order to subside his feelings of loneliness and homesickness.
When I was going through his personal details on Facebook, I came to know that his birthday is next week which disclosed the reason of his gloomy mood. Since he is feeling so down from a few days, I decided to throw a surprise party to uplift his mood.
As his birthday is on 14 June, I am planning to surprise him at night around 9 pm. According to his routine, by that time he will be coming back from his work and we will celebrate his birthday in his favorite restaurant “Indian Briyani”.
I want a favour from you; could you please bring some board games to my house because Josh loves to play them and after coming back from the restaurant we can play them. By the way, if you got your DSLR camera back from the repair shop, don’t hesitate to bring it with you as well.
See you at the party and please don’t be late this time.
Keep in touch,
Alex
